I coached a lady who had made millions in network marketing. She was so impressed, she brought me in as a leader for a conference she was developing. After the conference, people wanted more of what we offered, so we began to develop a small group coaching program with another millionaire leader and movie producer.
The new leader was full of energy. He had a great personality and everyone loved him. He even said a verse or two every once in a while. As we began marketing, he said, “let’s market that we only have 8 spots available, but if we get that many attendees, we can say we found more room, and we can have as many as 20, but we won’t tell anyone that at first, so we can build the excitement of it being filled up.”
He was using the lie of limited space as a marketing technique, knowing full well that he had plenty of space. I understand using scarcity in marketing and building excitement, but I don’t believe you should build your event marketing on lies. That really left a bad taste in my mouth and further experiences with this man proved his character lacked integrity.
The whole point of this is to say that there are a lot of people who call themselves Christian who don’t really live Christian values. If you want to hire a Christian entrepreneur coach, take time to get to know the person you are trusting. Look at their social media. Do they share Christian values? Talk to them on the phone or via Zoom. Do you get a good feel for that person in your spirit? (Here are some helpful questions to ask a potential Christian Entrepreneur coach.)
Personally, I have put many years in business and was also in ministry for over twenty years. I have a master’s degree and all of those certifications for life coaching, business coaching, digital marketing, etc., but none of those mean anything if I am not currently growing as a Christian and as an entrepreneur.
If my life was impacted with Christ, and I understand my salvation is in Christ alone, that is awesome. I will go to heaven to be with God for eternity. Yet, if I am not growing today and only remembering what used to be, I am missing out on the wonders that God has in store for me. If I am not growing, I am limiting the amount of God’s power I am allowing in my life. That is why God calls us to rejoice and always stay in His will for our lives and business.
I leave you with this. . .rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (I Thessalonians 5:16-18)
